Kitchen Work Carts - Great In Both Large And Small Kitchens

Kitchen work carts are excellent companions to installed kitchen islands, particularly in smaller kitchens that have an inefficient work area and where the island's size is limited by the traffic flow or layout of the cooking area.

But a kitchen work cart is also useful in a larger kitchen for specific uses, like cutting and slicing, where and when the cook desires.

They increase work space and storage and allow more than one cook to  be at work at the same time.

Kitchen carts extend the reach of the cook, as well.

Equipped with wheels or casters - some with oversized carriage wheels that more easily negotiate over carpets or rough outdoor surfaces - a kitchen cart can be moved as the cook moves but can also be moved into the dining room as an additional serving platform and can follow guests as they migrate to other rooms or outside on the deck or patio.

They Meet Specific Needs

Work carts are available in several styles and design ideas - Contemporary, Traditional, Rustic, Country, French or Spanish Country, European Chic, Avant Garde, and many others included - and are wooden or constructed of stainless steel or combinations of wood and steel for a very sturdy and modern style..

Look for a sturdy base and frame material that will provide a stable work surface, locking wheels or casters, and features that meet your specific needs.

Carts, unlike a kitchen island, usually have more limited purposes like beverage service, cutting and serving, or storage of utensils and ingredients for particular cooking styles like barbecue or Oriental cooking.

The use determines the top material. Butcher Block is very versatile and excellent for cutting meats, cheeses, and vegetables, but for beverage service, Stainless Steel or Granite are fine.
